Tenerife is the biggest of the Canary Islands that together with Palma, Gomera and Hierro make up the Spanish province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. This island, 300 kilometres away from the African coastline, has a relief of volcanic origin, with a basaltic massif that increases its height towards the interior and forms a rough mountain range of high peaks: Teide (3718 m), the biggest in Spain and Chaborra (3136 m). The island is famous worldwide for the abundant sun and has also important plant growth and farming. Tropical plants as well as plants from more tepid countries can be found due to all the different heights where they grow.

Agriculture is the main economic richness of the island (banana, tomato, onion, different varieties of fruits and a great number of vegetables). Other economic incomes come from livestock (wool-bearing and herds of goats), fishing and tourism. The towns in the southern area of Adeje, Los Cristianos, Granadilla de Abona and Santiago del Teide are a must for visitors.

The Canary Island's main charm, and in this particular case Tenerife's, are the wonderful beaches that surround them and the beautiful weather that can be enjoyed almost all year round. In the South area of the island of Tenerife the following beaches stand out: Adeje (Playa de la Enramada), Arona (Playa de las Américas), la Playa de San Juan and the Playa de Los Cristianos.

In Santiago del Teide, one of the main fishing ports of Tenerife's southern area, the Muelle Deportivo de los Gigantes (Sports Wharf of the Giants), on the well known cliff of same name, the Parish Church of the XVIIth century, the Ethnographic Museum, the Beach of La Arena, with European Blue Flag the one in the island that more prizes has obtained, the impressive cliffs and the Special Nature Reserve of Chinyero are the main places to visit. But, without any doubt, Tenerife's main and most interesting attractive are its volcanic landscapes that contrast with the impressive autochthonous flora, which does not leave anyone indifferent.
